Description:

Some times you are * Forced to see* things you never fathomed you' ld have to see.

This image was born from resent shattering events in my personal life, my need for peace because of them, and the decision to start a self portrait series to get me back to painting again.

In the middle of painting this, my original idea changed as I thought of a film I'd seen in a class in high school, of the after effects of the bombing in Hiroshima. In this film a woman had looked at the mushroom cloud as the bomb exploded, and as a result of the radiation, her iris melted down her cheek. I never forgot that image.
I thought to have my eye color washing, leaking, running out and down my cheek... the way currently, my color, has left me .
